Bullitt Group and Kodak partner for smartphone launch

First handset from a number of Kodak-branded devices set for release this year being showcased at CES 2015

Rugged device manufacturer Bullitt Group has tied up with imaging company Kodak for a simple-to-use mobile device.

Currently being showcased at CES 2015, the Kodak IM5, is an Android-based dual-SIM phone which features a five-inch display, a 1.7GHz processor, 8GB internal memory and 1GB of Ram.

Unsurprisingly, given the Kodak name is attached to it, it features a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera.

Its USP is that all of the main functions (contacts, calling, e-mail, internet etc) are all available via relatively large buttons on the home screen.

Also includes is dhat the company terms as advanced remote management software, which will allow relatives and friends to provide technical support if needed.

“By giving customers easy access to printing and sharing services while still offering the latest Android OS and features found on high-end smartphones, we will appeal to a large audience of users who value ease of use and stylish design as highly as they value functionality,” said Bullitt Mobile chief executive officer Oliver Schulte.

The handset is expected to be on sale in Europe at the end of Q1, priced at €299 (£234).

Bullitt says the device is the first in a string of products that will be released under the Kodak brand this year. It expects to announce a 4G handset, a tablet and a connected camera in the second half of 2015.
