TomTom boosts Microsoft Azure

TomTom have partnered with Microsoft to provide location services as part of Microsoft’s Azure development service.

TomTom will provide location information based on their already established maps, traffic and navigation service adopted by many apps and manufacturers already.

Microsoft Executive Vice President Peggy Johnson said “Making TomTom’s services available through the Microsoft Azure cloud platform will allow developers and our customer to make location a core part of their cloud-based applications.”

The Azure platform aims to make building and managing enterprise, mobile, web and IoT arms of a company easier for developers to create.

TomTom CEO Harold Goddijn said “Location is fast becoming a critical component of a broad range of applications and services.

“Teaming up with Microsoft will bring our technology to a much broader developer community on a platform they are familiar with.”
