The energy supplier will offer a range of prepay bundles it claims will beat other brands on price
Utilities supplier Economy Energy has made its first entry into the prepay market with ‘Economy Mobile.’
The Coventry-based independent energy supplier claims the new packages will ‘beat other brands on price’ alongside offering free monthly bundles. According to the five-year-old firm, it has saved customers more than £12 million on their gas and electricity and is looking to make a similar impact with the new mobile offering.
Prices for minutes, texts and data range between £5 and £20. For example, a £10 bundle will provide customers with 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data. Customers who take out energy with the company can receive a complimentary SIM preloaded with £5 credit. This will be renewed every 30 days, giving customers £60 of free credit over a year. Subscribers are not tied to a contract.
Economy Energy mobile project manager Anthony Owen said: “The general public are becoming a lot savvier when it comes to buying a new phone. Entering into a 24-month contract and bundling the cost of the device and price plan all in one is no longer the go-to option.
“It’s a well-known fact that you can save a lot of money through buying your phone outright and opting for a SIM-only price plan instead.
“We’ve spent a lot of time developing our mobile proposition to ensure it ties in with our goal of providing services that are easy-to-use while creating value for the customer.”
