New joiners and renewals can use LTE network for no extra cost
BT is offering business users access to its 4G network as part of a wider launch aimed at small to medium enterprises.
SMEs joining BT will now have access to 4G when they sign up, along with access to BT’s 5 million UK WiFi hotspots, for no extra charge.
The service will run on BT Business national service, the MVNO agreement the provider struck with EE in October, and will be open to new plans and also to businesses who are renewing their contracts.
BT is offering a range of tariffs and handset options, which they say are “designed to meet the needs of all businesses”. Non 4G Solo plans start at £17.50 a month before taxes for a Nokia Asha handset with 500MB of data. 4G will cost between £20 and £45 per month for up to 10GB of data across some high-end handsets including the HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy S5 and Nokia Lumia 1520.
Multiple-user accounts can share a data allowance across all included devices. There is also a SIM-only option, which will allow business to continue using their existing devices.
To make sure users don’t run out of data or calls, they can also add mobile extras, including options that they can share across their business. They can also take advantage of new short-term, 30-day roaming extras for roaming.
Graham Sutherland, CEO for BT Business, said: “Our research shows that 24 per cent of employees now work regularly out of the office. As part of our strategy to offer a portfolio that provides value for money and meets the changing needs of businesses, we’ve designed our new mobile plans to cater for this.
“Our new plans give customers the connectivity they need to help them stay productive when out and about, along with the flexibility to choose a plan that suits their way of working.”
BT’s recently launched it’s unified communications platform BT One Phone in its return to the mobile market. One Phone provides an integrated cloud-based solution that allows users to route calls from any device, landline or mobile, and multiple numbers into one line.
“LTE is in there, but BT has been smart enough to assemble a broad set of capabilities to make this work and is to be applauded,” said CCS Insight’s Director of Apps & Media, Paolo Pescatore, on the launch of BT One Phone “It is clear that the company has made some big long term bets and as a result has made itself relevant again. There is undoubtedly a good vibe at BT and lots of excitement. Now it just needs to deliver.
