HTC sales hit five-month low in July

Revenue halved from June and down by almost a third to just over £200m as manufacturer looks to hit its quarterly target of at least £831m

HTC has posted revenues of NT$10.605 billion (£210 million) for July – its lowest for five months.

The figure was a 51.6 per cent drop from the NT$21.917 billion (£434 million) figure posted in June and down by 32.58 per cent from the NT$15.728 billion (£311 million) figure posted in the same month last year.

When the Taiwanese manufacturer posted its Q2 financial results last week, it said it was forecasting revenues of between NT$42 billion (£831 million) and NT$47 billion (£930 million) for Q3.

Sources close to the manufacturer have said sales of its flagship smartphone the One (M8), which was released in March, have not been as strong as UK distributors had first hoped.

Last month also saw the departures of chief marketing officer Benjamin Ho and operations head Fred Liu.

HTC returned to profitability in Q2. Its net profit was NT$ 2.3 billion (45.5 million), having posted a net loss of NT$ 1.88 billion (£37.2 million). Revenues also doubled sequentially yo NT$65.1 billion (£1.3 billion).
