Samsung has announced the UK availability of the Gear VR – the latest addition to its wearables range.
It is now on sale at the Samsung Shop online for £80 in white before widespread availability in the new year from a number of retailers, including O2.
The latest edition of the Gear VR is is compatible with the Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+. Users slot the handset onto the front of the Gear VR to begin using it and can buy content from the online store in front of their eyes.
It is 19 per cent lighter than the previous Gear VR Innovator Edition at 318g and has a Super AMOLED screen with a touchpad on the right hand side that includes back and volume buttons, as well as a focus adjustment wheel.
The Gear VR has accelerator, gyrometer and proximity sensors and provides a 96 degree field of view. Also included is new foam cushioning designed to make the device more comfortable to wear.
